THE NEAR WEST BUSINESS ASSOCIATION
Who We Are
The Near West Business Association, headquartered in Forest Park, Illinois, was founded in January of 2004 and consists of businesses in the near western suburbs of Chicago. Unlike other business organizations or clubs, Near West is not a “leads group.” There are no cumbersome dues, no “elevator speeches” at each meeting, no minimum referral requirements, and no fines (these things tend to discourage the involvement of new or very small businesses). So the group works for new and established businesses alike. We do restrict membership to one member in each business category (for example, plumber, painter, attorney, architect, etc.).
What We Do
At our meetings, the focus of each and every one of our members is to truly get to know other members and do business with them. We share business tips and resources with each other, and sometimes pool resources if desired (for example, two related businesses may cosponsor a seminar for potential clients or place an ad together in the local paper). We also take part in community events, such as Oak Park’s Day in Our Village, and social events such as holiday parties or mixers. Our latest project is a newsletter in which we will share valuable and useful information from the various members with our clients.
The members of Near West feel that this unique approach is very beneficial to our businesses. Our members have found that associating with outstanding individuals dedicated to providing excellent client service helps our businesses grow and prosper. We also gain trust by linking our clients and friends with reliable businesses that will actually fit their needs. Of course, the individuals to whom we’ve referred Near West members are delighted that we care enough about them to give them a quality referral! Since there are no minimum referral requirements, our members don’t feel obligated to give meaningless referrals. When a member of Near West refers another member, you can rest assured that we believe in and trust the business that we recommended to you. In many instances, we’ve done business with the referral ourselves! Furthermore, due to our close association, Near West members are motivated to provide the highest level of service to our valued clients and friends.
